Configuration assistant #
The primary Maileon configuration is accomplished using plentymarkets assistants. You can locate the configuration assistant here:
Einrichtung » Assistenten » Plugins » {name of the plugin-set where you have the plugin installed}
Step 1: Authorization #
In this step, you are required to provide the API key from Maileon. This key enables plentymarkets to communicate with your Maileon account. You can find information on how to locate and manage the API key in this section.
Step 2: Setup #
In this step, you can manage one of the key plugin functionalities: exporting checkout data. This enables the visualization of order data in Maileon and facilitates the automation of sales-related email campaigns.

On this page, you will encounter two toggles:
“Send checkout transactions to Maileon.” toggle. #
When this toggle is activated, the plugin will transmit checkout data to Maileon. As storefront or external marketplace checkout data can be forwarded to Maileon, it’s crucial to configure the event procedure. Further details on event procedures can be found here.
“Send cart abondonment” toggle. #
The Maileon plugin automatically monitors cart abandonments and reports this information to Maileon. If this toggle is enabled, we will capture this data. However, it’s essential to establish rules defining the time period in your case that qualifies as “abandonment” of a cart.

Once the toggle is enabled, two additional fields will appear, allowing you to choose the threshold type from “hours” or “days.” In the second field, you can input a numerical value. For instance, selecting “Hours” and entering 8 would indicate that a cart should be flagged as abandoned if there’s no update within 8 hours.
Step 3: Initial Contact Sync Options #
During this step, you can enable a feature that exports all your current contacts in plentymarkets to Maileon. This process is managed by scheduled tasks that run every 24 hours. Once the configuration is set up and this feature is activated, all contacts should be exported to Maileon within the next day.
Once this toggle is activated, you can also choose the permission level that you would like to predefine for imported contacts. You can find additional information about the permissions used in Maileon here.

If you select “none” as the initial permissions level for exported contacts, you will see new fields for DOI (Double opt-in configuration). Here, you need to provide the DOI mailing ID from Maileon. For more information on how to create and manage DOI mailings, you can find details here.

Step 4: Checkout Permissions and Double opt-in process #
As in the previous step, you can configure permission levels for Checkout transactions and provide DOI mailing IDs if needed.
In addition, you’ll find a toggle in this step called “Use subscribe checkbox.” When activated, a checkbox for subscribing will be added to the Checkout. Refer to the image for details.
Additionally, since Checkout transactions can be created for orders imported from external marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, etc., there is a toggle labelled “Force subscribe checkbox ‘on’ for external shops.” Enabling this option will mark contacts from external marketplaces exported to Maileon as subscribed.

Step 5: Newsletter Permissions and Double opt-in process #
In this step, you can set permissions for contacts generated through the newsletter widget, similar to the previous step. You have the flexibility to select the permission level and configure the DOI mailing process where necessary. Information on setting up newsletter widgets can be found here. (To Be Done)
Step 5: Contact fields #
On Maileon, you have the option to create contact fields, which can be valuable for email automation. Information on how to create and manage contact fields on Maileon can be found here:
In this step, you can associate certain plentymarkets values with contact fields in Maileon. Maileon fields will be displayed on the left, while plentymarkets available values will be shown on the right. Click the “+” sign to establish a new match. Once the match is created, the associated values will be provided to the corresponding contact field in Maileon when the contact is exported.

Here is a list of currently available values on plentymarkets:
- External Number
- Customer number
- Customer Class
- Referrer Id
- eBay Name
- Paypal Email
- Contact Person
Step 6: Webhooks #
In this step, you will discover URLs generated by the plugin on your plentymarkets system. You must configure these URLs as webhook endpoints on your Maileon account. These webhooks will deliver information to the plugin when customers confirm DOI processes or unsubscribe from your emails. This enables us to mark when the DOI was confirmed or when a customer clicked “unsubscribe.” For guidance on setting up webhooks, check here.

Ensure that the correct event is chosen when creating a webhook configuration on Maileon. Additionally, note that this will only function when the Maileon plugin is installed in the plugin-set with an assigned client. Otherwise, routes created by the plugin cannot be found for external usage.
Step 7: RSS feed tags #
Maileon will generate three RSS feeds, allowing you to export your inventory for use in newsletters or other emails. The three types of RSS feeds sent are:
- RSS feed containing all items.
- RSS feed for Best Items.
- RSS feed for New Items.
These RSS feeds are managed through Catalogues. For more information, please refer to the documentation provided here:
In the configuration setup, you need to select the tags from Plentymarkets that we should use to identify “Best” and “New” items. These tags will be set as filters on the corresponding catalogues, ensuring that items with the specified tags are included and exported to Maileon.

Completing Configuration #
That’s it! After adding the mandatory information, you can easily finalize the assistant. If you need to make any adjustments, you can always update your configuration again.
